Sinopsys:
During the early months of the post-invasion period in Iraq, Sergeant First Class William James becomes the new team leader of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit with the U.S. Army's Bravo Company, replacing Staff .

Sergeant Thompson, who was killed by a remote-detonated improvised explosive device (IED) in Baghdad. He joins Sergeant J.T. Sanborn and Specialist Owen Eldridge, whose jobs are to communicate with their team leader via radio inside his bombsuit, and provide him with rifle cover while he examines an IED.

James's insistence on approaching a suspected IED without first sending in a bomb disposal robot during their first mission together lead Sanborn and Eldridge to consider him "reckless". Back at Camp Victory, James befriends Beckham, a young Iraqi boy who works for a local merchant operating at the base. The team is next called out to the United Nations building in Baghdad, where a parked car has a large bomb in the trunk.

While James intensively studies the intricate bomb, Sanborn and Eldridge provide him with cover. Sanborn becomes increasingly concerned about three men watching them from a minaret and another filming them from a nearby rooftop. With the building evacuated, he suggests to James that the they pull out and let a team of engineers come disarm the bomb. James ignores and angers Sanborn by removing his radio headset, and remains with the car until he disarms the device.

Bermula dari seorang pria muda bernama Shi-Jie (Jay Chou). Ia memang dibesarkan di sebuah sekolah Kung-Fu, makanya tak heran kalau dirinya cukup piawai dalam aksi bela diri. Namun begitu, karena ia ditinggalkan orangtuanya di sebuah lapangan basket sewaktu kecil, maka ia kerap bersemangat kalau mendengar suara pantulan bola.

Lantaran sebuah peristiwa, Shi-Jie meninggalkan sekolahnya dan bertemu dengan Chen-Li (Eric Tsang). Sebenarnya Chen-Li orang baik, tapi melihat kemampuan Shi-Jie yang selalu berhasil memasukkan bola ke dalam keranjang, maka ia menjadikannya sebagai pemain jalanan.

Namun keberuntungan datang, dengan mengumbar ingin mencari keluarganya Shi-Jie justru mendapat kesempatan bermain basket di universitas. Tak dipungkiri memang, Chen-Li hanya mencari keuntungan atas kemampuan Shi-Jie.

Tidak mudah buat Shi-Jie untuk masuk dalam tim basket itu. Soalnya, Ting-Wei (Bo-Lin Chen), sang kapten punya kemampuan ber-slam dunk. Shi-Jie yang belum mengetahui teknik itu tentu saja kagum.

Belum lagi, rupanya Shi-Jie menyukai adik sang kapten, Li-Li (Charlene Choi). Sayang, rasa sukanya harus bertepuk sebelah tangan. Soalnya gadis itu sangat mengidolakan Xiao-Lan (Baron Chen), yang juga jago slam-dunk.

Memasuki kejuaraan basket, tim universitas pimpinan Ting-Wei melaju pesat. Tapi, musuh bebuyutan mereka datang dan siap menghancurkan.


Bagaimana usaha Shi-Jie dan rekan-rekannya merebut kemenangan? Bagaimana juga cara Shi-Jie merebut perhatian Li-Li. Mampukah ia menemukan keluarganya? Pastinya, Anda harus mencari jawabannya sendiri.

Namun secara keseluruhan, Kungfu Dunk menampilkan sebuah cerita yang kuat. Jangan harap Anda bisa menyaksikan adegan kekerasan melulu. Soalnya, inti ceritanya sendiri adalah tentang pemahaman Shi-Jie akan hidup.

Akting Jay Chou yang lebih terkenal sebagai penyanyi, di film ini boleh diacungi jempol. Meski tidak terlalu banyak dialog, tapi ekspresi serta pembawaan karakternya cukup baik.

Mr. Bean enters a church raffle and wins a vacation trip to France as well as a camcorder. After boarding a Eurostar train and arriving in Paris, the French language proves a barrier for Bean, as he struggles to get across the city to catch a train to the south of France from the Gare de Lyon. Taking time to order a meal, he finds the consumption of a seafood platter to be a challenge. Just before catching his train, he asks Emil, a Russian film director on his way to be a judge at the Cannes Film festival to use his camcorder to record his boarding, but accidentally causes Emil being left behind at the station.

reviewed: 2007-10-02 What a very nice concept, Joe Barbera, the creator of Tom and Jerry find themselves in a fanciful world made all the more real when set to the music of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker". The back of the box puts it this way: In an empty opera house, Jerry wishes for his chance to perform and magically his dream comes true. The little mouse is whisked away to an enchanted kingdom where anything is possible... candy forests, singing snowflakes, even the toys spring to life! Jerry has a great time with his new friends and when Jerry dances with a music box ballerina, he is as happy as happy can be. Unfortunately, a group of alley cats partially led by Tom, crash Jerry's party, kidnap the music box ballerina, and wreak havoc in the holiday kingdom. It's up to Jerry to set things right and send those mean old cats back to the alley where they belong. With some help from a mouse named Tuffy and all his newfound friends... Jerry just might win the day! That foolish feline and naughty mouse are starring in this holiday story that is scored with Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. Jerry has a dream about a vacant theater and wakes up in the story with Tom and a collection of cats that join in on the fracas. Jerry and Tuffy are the good guys, er, mice that live in the music hall. They are watching the last seasonal presentation of the Nutcracker, which Jerry claims as his favorite. Jerry would love a chance to act in the play when in true holiday musical style, the empty stage is changed into a magical world with Jerry in the lead of the story and the toys under the Christmas tree begin to show life of their own. The ballet dancer in a music box also animates and she and Jerry minuet together. That is when the magical buffet appears.

When the entrance flies open a band of roughneck cats captained by the King of Cats smack their watering lips at the sight of the magical buffet that had recently came forth before the Nutcracker Prince, er, Jerry. The rabid pack of cats, including Tom, attacks the theater along with the King and declares him the victor and throws the mouse prince out. Jerry, a talking horse toy, and a Christmas tree ornament take off across the enchanted realm to hook up with the toymaker so he can get down to the business of resetting things back the way they were. In spite of this, the King has other ideas and sends Tom and his motley band of cats to make sure that Jerry doesn’t get to the toymaker. A Nutcracker Tale is a concept formulated by the late originator of Tom and Jerry, Joseph Barbera. The tale does not really follow the entire Christmas fable with Tom and Jerry in the thick of things, but a holiday story that interweaves into the classic tale with Tom and Jerry basically playing Tom and Jerry. Sadly, Tom is really knocked down to second banana and what could’ve been his part is taken over by a cat that talks and Tuffy does the same for Jerry.

Fortunately, they didn’t force Tom and Jerry to talk because that would simply be just wrong. There’s some light gratuitous violence, but it is nothing remotely like the original cartoons, particularly since those theatrical shorts are only accessible by collectors as of late. Still, I feel that the animation does have an original Tom and Jerry feel to them since Joseph Barbera was part of the creative process, but really is unfairly compared to those original cartoons. The cartoon just doesn’t seem to hold up for adults that well. But so what? I think kids will enjoy the heck out of it since most of them never really got a chance to bond with the theatrical releases. Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale is presented in full screen. The special features are all on the DVD-ROM side of the disc. The features include “Tom and Jerry Holiday Story Factory” which will let you whip up your own holiday card or storybook. There’s also a game called “Journey to the Toymaker”. Tom and Jerry is sure to satisfy the kids; then again Christmas should hold children’s dreams anyhow. Pick it up and be a hero to the little ones around your household over the holidays.

Life after people

What would happen to the planet if every human being was suddenly gone? That's the premise of the History Channel 2 hour special Life After People. The film assembles experts to discuss what the evolution fo the planet would be with no humans on the planet including the way our buildings, cars, food, and even electric power changes after we're gone. I was convinced this is just a fun fantasy film but some scientists are convinced this will happen at some point. We will be gone and some other animal will evolve to take our place at the top of the food chain.

The film starts with the day after we're gone and continues to 200 years and even jumps ahead 10,000 years. Through a mix of interviews, live action representations, and CGI the creators show the changes in animal life, and even the literal decomposition of buildings and vehicles. The film quite fascinatingly considers the pyramids and the Sphinx as examples of what the future holds for our own buildings and other constructs. The CGI brings the whole idea of how nature grows up and consumes, and even destroys everything we would leave behind. What was really surprising to me was just how long the Hoover Dam would continue to function providing power without us around to run things.

Here's the problem, as interesting as this film it, it's still a History Channel special so it has that sort of dry History Channel feeling. By the halfway point I was starting to feel like the film was running to long. This is a real challenge though because I can't tell you how to do a special like this and make it hip. Maybe they need to bring in some guys from MTV/VH1 to produce a special and see how it comes out. Don't get me wrong though, for a History Channel film this is one of the best I've seen. I really liked the suspenseful atmosphere the creators build with the days after life cards that start each segment of the film.

At the end of the day there's a lot to learn here about how we build things and how we effect our environment so I believe just for that it's worth a watch. Also the CGI imagining of what will happen is pretty interesting and it will keep your attention, at least for a while. Also, with the writers strike happening this will probably be the best thing on TV the night it premieres.
